Focuses on student immigration issues; F-1 and J-1 classifications; STEM high-skilled; DACA; humanitarian processes and procedures; relevant congressional and agency activity. This group works with AAU staff to provide up-to-date information to the CFR on pressing immigration matters affecting the research and scientific community.

NSF, DOE, DOD, and NASA policy, authorization, and appropriations matters, as well as other cross-cutting research-related regulations and issues.
CFR Intellectual Property / Tech Transfer Task Force / E-mail: CFR-IPTT-TF@connect.aau.edu
Focuses on public policy issues and legal developments relating to university intellectual property, technology transfer, copyright, open science/open data, as well as data privacy and security. Working with AAU staff, this group provides the CFR with analysis and current information on matters affecting not only higher education IP holdings, but also the wider patent ecosystem, the societal push towards open science, and the evolving legal recognitions of individual privacy.
CFR Tax Issues Task Force / E-mail: CFR-Tax-TF@connect.aau.edu
Student-related tax issues; charitable giving; tax-exempt financing; university endowments; and other tax issues affecting research universities. The group works with AAU staff to liaise with Ad Hoc Tax Group, ACE, APLU, NAICU, NACUBO, CASE, and other organizations as needed.
